La Halle du Toueur

The hall, completed in 2004, provided Japanese architect Shigeru Ban with a further opportunity to experiment with his favourite material. It consists of a large nave open at each end, with proportions modelled on the dimensions of the tunnel. The vast polycarbonate vault is lifted off the ground; it is made of a mesh of cardboard tubes assembled by aluminium nodes.
